Value Betting – 5th April, 2018

The Flat season was upon us. Two weeks into the summer stuff and hardly a meeting had survived the mud and the rain of a protracted winter. All there was was a seemingly endless succession of wall-to-wall all-weather racing. There was so much of it that the members on the UK Horse Racing forum were… Read More »

Sire/Dam Calculations

One of the things that we’re always doing is to improve the sire/dam statistics on the website and over the course of time we’d lost track of how much data we process. Here’s an example. On the fourth of April, 2018, there were four meetings scheduled. Not all survived the abandonments, but the data had… Read More »

Limerick 4.20

This is how the ratings looked for this race today over at Limerick. On the forum this morning I posted the following. The only one that I like as a manual selection is BALLEA FOX in the 4.20 Limerick. This is mostly down to the price and the decent class figure and the better than… Read More »

County Hurdle, 2018

Day Four of the Cheltenham Festival gives us the wonderful County Hurdle. The ratings were spot on with this one. The top rated Mohaayed wins at 33/1 (though available at 70s on the exchanges) and the second home was third-rated Remiluc at 50/1.

A New Meaning of ‘Value’

To us Value simply means a horse’s chance of winning. Here’s an example of an All-Weather race at Southwell. The top rated, and the obvious favourite, is Ray Purchase in a rather tight eight runner handicap. The forecast odds were evens but the UK Horse Racing model gave this one a mere 25% chance of… Read More »

Reading The Ratings: Catterick 2.35

I don’t know why I don’t spend more time looking at the ratings because they show up some interesting selections from time to time. I don’t look for these cherry pick selections every day as I find that they do produce the selections when the racing is quieter and poorer overall. So, for this reason… Read More »

Value Betting: Southwell 4.25

When one is doing Value Betting it’s not uncommon to find two, or more, horses in the same race being backed. Here’s the 4.25 at Southwell today (1st Feb, 2018). All three horses which are at the top of the ratings were found to be value bets and were backed and each had strong positives.… Read More »

Value Betting Summary, January 2017

This post is based on the following message on the forum. https://www.ukhorseracing.co.uk/forum/DisplayMessagesRange.asp?ID=171426 One of the long term correspondents, Mark, has been posting value bets each day on the forum. These are the results since he started to follow these and the returns are based on the price of the winners that he managed to obtain.… Read More »

Reading The Ratings: 18th January, Wincanton 3.20

I had a look at the Wincanton meeting to see if anything interested me there and there was only one race in which something caught my eye. Here’s the report for the race. This is a fairly tight hurdle handicap with eleven pounds covering the seven horse field. The one that caught my eye was… Read More »

Reading The Ratings: 17th January. Market Rasen

Continuing from yesterday’s Reading The Ratings I decided to look at Market Rasen today to see what stood out. I posted on the forum my thoughts on two races. The other races either was a National Hunt Flat which never strikes me as a sensible betting medium or had only four or five runners. Regarding… Read More »
