Congratulations once again to Maxmo for finishing top.
It was all down to the last race. Pete started the last day breaking even and all he needed was a single winner, even at 1/100 on (if there is ever such a thing at Aintree) to get into profit. And, hopefully, then into one of the prize positions.
All throughout the last day Pete kept managing to miss the winners and, yet, most of those beneath him were starting to pick up points. It became a race in the last few races to see if anyone would overhaul him.
The Grand National came and went and, still, no-one was in profit with one race to go. In the last Maxmo and myself grabbed the winner and we both finished in profit. And, once again, Maxmo wins the main prize of a month’s free ratings giving us the same one-two home as in the Cheltenham Festival competition.
Once again, well done to Maxmo. Commiserations to Pete for failing to get over the line and the next competition will be announced for when Maxmo has booked his summer holiday…
For those who are interested. My selection method was quite simple: choose the highest rated horse in each race that was value. This proved again, as in the previous competition, a good method. Only two winners but, value betting being value betting, those two winners was all that were required to finish in profit.
Thanks all for taking part and see you soon for the next one.
