I had a look at the Wincanton meeting to see if anything interested me there and there was only one race in which something caught my eye.
Here’s the report for the race.
This is a fairly tight hurdle handicap with eleven pounds covering the seven horse field.
The one that caught my eye was the bottom rated The Brothers.
The Brothers had two underscores, Lst and Cls. And both were high values and, more to the point, far ahead of the figures of the other horses. The Jockey and Trainer figures were emboldened which added strength to the horse and the Class Differentials in the bottom table were also good.
The value price was 11/1 and I managed to get on at 20/1, though it opened later on at 33/1. It didn’t win, but came a decent third; the comments in the press being “Tracked leaders, ridden into close 3rd 2 out, not fluent last, kept on same pace (op 33/1)”.
Although the selection didn’t win today it gave a good account of itself and this is the sort of horse I love to find.
